Why aren't there enough successful female MC's in the rap game today?

hip hop is way TOO male oriented.i miss the days of mc lyte, queen latifah, sweet t,salt-n-pepa,roxanne shante, etc.even the 2nd wave with da brat, lauryn hill, mia x,foxy brown, eve, lil kim,and missy.they have even gotten rid of the best female artist or record in hip hop music awards categories.remy martin was the last female rapper to win an award!(by default)|||Because there is WAY too much emphasis on looks and less on talent. This goes for female singers and male rappers, the whole industry too focused on the aesthetic. Less people are buying records - downloading etc, so recording artist need to diversify - they have become commodities. So they sell cosmetics, clothing, they try to act and whatever else they can do to extend their shelf life.

So the quality artists, rappers who are interested in making good music and less into playing celebrity, selling products and prancing around on stage half nekkid don't get any love as nobody wants to invest in them.

I believe this has affected the female influence in the rap game.|||They seem to all follow the same formula %26amp; when you have a group of female rappers who all sound alike, it's hard to pick one who stands out.

MC Lyte was very lyrical %26amp; stood out in a time when Rap was still a mostly underground male-dominated genre. Latifah %26amp; the Roxannes as well.

Salt %26amp; Pepa were a bit too pop for my taste.

Da Brat came out with a classic debut album that still stands the test of time. I think her and JD were a perfect team.

Foxey %26amp; Lil Kim seemed to be one in the same. They had some nice clothes %26amp; were sexy %26amp; all but lacked substance.

I think if a female rapper can combine beauty, sex appeal as well as original style %26amp; skill - she can stand out among the clones we see all to many of.

|||This is an easy answer, lately all the females came that have recently came out had the same sexually oriented message(eat my, u know the rest). it has been getting a little stupid, so that why nobody wants to listen to them. But hey M.I.A might bring it back, she represents a new breed of non-sexual oriented female rappers.|||There is alot!....this is a question for females to answer because me as a male ....I don't know why?...maybe they don't want to be rap artists...who knows!!
