If I open a bottle of cognac, how long is the shelf life?

I got a bottle of Remy Martin Louis XIII as a gift and am wondering if i should open it|||Cognac gets better with age. Meaning I don't think it goes bad. You can have it for years.|||"Louis tres" is a blend of eaux de vies all of which are at least 12 years old and some of which are over 100.

So it's already oevr 100 years old (well bits of it), so it isn't going to go off any time soon.

Just make sure you seal the bottle up properly after using it and keep it in a cool (not refridgerated) place.

And for Pity's sake don't go mixing it with anything....

Wyman is quite right ... 'Louis Tres' is just a trade nickname we had for it (probably came from from Louis one three)|||Jack is correct with the exception to call "Louis tres" it is not Louis 3 but Louis 13|||1 year|||i have it done in a year.
